Keeping Babies Warm (Without the Blinding Light)
When you’re heating up a bathroom for a baby, you’ve got a tricky balance to strike. You need that heat to hit instantly—nobody wants a shivering infant—but you can’t have a light so bright it feels like a spotlight in their eyes. It’s a real challenge. Babies have sensitive vision, and a harsh glare just isn’t okay. The trick is in the light. Most standard infrared lamps are just… bright. Too bright. They can actually put a lot of stress on the eyes. To fix this, we don’t use raw bulbs. We use special coatings and filtered quartz glass. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for the heater. The glass blocks out the piercing visible light but lets the warmth slide right through. Instead of a blinding beam, you get a soft, gentle glow. We’ve shifted the energy so it sinks into the skin and the room, not the eyes. Fast heat, cool touch. We designed these to kick in the second you flip the switch. You feel the warmth immediately. But we also had to make sure the unit itself doesn’t become a hazard. We use high-reflectivity aluminum reflectors to push all that heat straight down where it belongs. It stops energy from wasting away into the ceiling and keeps the back of the unit cool to the touch. The honest trade-off. Here’s the thing: when you filter out the blinding light to protect those little eyes, you lose a bit of that “raw” brightness you see in basic halogen tubes. Is it a little less “powerful” on paper? Maybe. But in a bathroom with a baby, that’s a trade I’d make every single time. Safety wins over raw wattage. One quick tip on the wiring. If you’re installing these, just a heads-up: these lamps pull a lot of current the moment they strike. Make sure your wiring can handle the peak load. If the wires are too thin, you’re going to be tripping your breakers the second the heat kicks in. Not exactly the vibe you want during bath time.
