Most standard infrared lamps just can’t take it. Moisture seeps into the housing, shorts out the terminals, and—poof—your heater is a paperweight. We got tired of seeing that happen, so we built something that actually survives the chaos. Dealing with the damp We looked at where these things usually break. It’s almost always the lens or the electrical junctions. To stop that annoying fogging, we use a specific kind of heat-resistant glass. It creates a thermal gradient that keeps condensation from sticking to the surface. This means the heat actually reaches your guests instead of getting blocked by a layer of mist. As for the rain (and the spilled drinks), we sealed the whole chassis to an IP-rated standard. It’s tight. Nothing gets into the wiring. The heat that actually works Here’s the thing about open-air patios: you can’t heat the air. The wind just carries it away. That’s why we use shortwave infrared emitters. They heat people, not the breeze. We wrap those elements in high-purity quartz tubes and seal the reflector housing. Why? Because if dust and moisture coat that mirror, you lose 20% of your heat projection. That’s a huge difference when a customer is shivering in a cocktail dress. The honest trade-offs I’ll be straight with you: waterproofing makes the units bulkier. Because we use heavy-duty seals, these aren’t lightweight. You can’t just hang them from a flimsy ceiling. You’ll need to make sure your mounting brackets are beefy enough to handle the extra weight. Also, “splash-proof” doesn’t mean “submersible.” If your cleaning crew uses high-pressure washers right next to the units, you still need to shield the power inlets. It costs a bit more upfront. But instead of replacing burnt-out tubes every single winter, these things last for years. It’s just a better way to do it.
